The mission of the United States Naval Academy is to develop Midshipmen morally, mentally and physically and to imbue them with the highest ideals of duty, honor and loyalty in order to graduate leaders who are dedicated to a career of naval service. The Academy’s civilian faculty members give continuity and depth to the educational program and form the core of scholarship and teaching. All career civilian faculty members have doctoral degrees, and many of them are leading scholars and researchers in their fields, working in a wide range of techncial areas to further develop their disciplines.
